Important information for visitors

Until summer 2025, there is a new visitor route at the National Maritime Museum while we carry out essential improvements to the Museum's roof. Most galleries will still be open as normal, and special exhibitions are currently free for all visitors. However, the Great Map and AHOY! will be closed for the duration of the works. Ahead of the centenary of the beginning of the First world War, June’s Item of the Month delves into the Library's pamphlet collection and takes a look at artist Sam Brown’s series of 6 water colours published together as War on the Waters (PBD7219).

First appearing in the Liverpool Daily Post, these remarkable water colours show depict various episodes in the war at sea, including the Falklands and the Heligoland Bight. Pick up the story at here
